This time of year I always wax nostalgic for Pow-Wow seasons gone by. I need some frybread, some 49 songs, and a bonfire. I need to be sitting 'round with my hoody pulled up, talking shit with my girlfriends with somebody's kid passed out on my lap, drinking Mohawk strawberry drink kissed with Vodka till the bonfire goes out! I need to walk around some pow-wow grounds, checking out folks in their new regalia, scoping out the Eastern straight dancers without wedding rings! *snicker* I need to hear some drums from up North, hitting those high ass pitches with like 15 guys on the drum. I need to sit with my girls on the bleachers, checking out the outfits on the fancy dancers, and joke about how we're going to dance fancy...ONE day...when the dinosaurs ome back. I need to be out in the sun, getting all summertime brown, with some sunstreaked strands in my hair, all wet from a water hose gathered up in a frizzy curly knot. -elomonique she's awesome! _______________________________________________ Grading papers can be a soul-sucking exercise in futility. _______________________________________________ After months of angst, I have made the official flip.
